National charity donates more than 600 toys, suitable for all ages, to non-profit ministry that supports foster and adoptive parenting

WAUKESHA, Wis. - WisconsinEagle -- Chosen Inc. ("Chosen"), a non-profit ministry dedicated to supporting foster and adoptive parenting, has received a donation of more than 600 toys from a national charity.

The toys, ranging from dolls to Legos to yard games, are all new and suited to every age group. The donor is a large, well-known organization that requested anonymity.

The timing of the donation aligns well with Chosen's plans to open a Milwaukee County Family Closet in 2021, modeled after The Family Closet in Waukesha. The center provides free clothing and children's items to foster and adoptive families.

"Many of these toys will be distributed at our initial family appointments at The Family Closet in Waukesha," said Karen Schlindwein, Vice-President of Education and Development for Chosen. "The donation also provides inventory to open the new Milwaukee County location. A good number will be given away at our December Toypalooza event, too."

Chosen still needs toys for infants through toddlers, and activities and crafts for older teens. Donations of these, clothing or other items can be made at the Waukesha Family Closet, 217 Wisconsin Ave., Suite 105, during open donation hours, found at https://www.choseninlove.org/donation-hours.

Donors are also asked for baby items such as older-sized diapers and pacifiers, and new car seats, high chairs, safety gates and portable cribs. School supplies are needed, too, for distribution at Vacation Bible School (https://www.choseninlove.org/vbs2021), July 15-17 at Waukesha Bible Church, and to foster and adoptive families during the last two weeks of July.

Chosen has given away more than 28,000 items to families in 12 Wisconsin counties since 2016.

Chosen is dedicated to educating the public about the impact of adoption and fostering, and providing spiritual, material, and emotional support to families who have chosen these oft-misunderstood paths. Chosen shares resource referrals to other organizations and professionals to help meet the needs of adoptive and foster families. Its long-term goals include opening a multi-family foster community to care for children in need of a loving home.
