GREEN BAY, Wis. - WisconsinEagle -- Elimination of coating costs helps offset investment for printers
Carbon fiber sleeve technology is growing in acceptance within the print industry on the strength of the undeniable benefits these assets deliver. MECA, a member of the Precision Roll Solutions family of roll and sleeve specialists, is one of the few companies based in the USA with expertise in carbon fiber roll and carbon fiber sleeve manufacturing.
Some flexographic printers have been reluctant to embrace carbon fiber sleeve, bridge and roll technology due to the slightly higher upfront investment required compared to traditional steel. However, the ability to avoid costly applications of chrome or nickel coatings, coupled with the longer lifespan of carbon fiber sleeve assets serve to offset some or all of that investment.
Carbon fiber sleeves do not require any coatings, and the lighter weight of the material makes them easier and safer for workers to handle. The carbon fiber sleeve option adds rigidity for enhanced performance while decreasing the piece's overall weight. This produces less strain on drive motors, which contributes an added benefit of longer lifespans for those components.

Carbon fiber sleeve options add to customer flexibility
MECA's ability to produce carbon fiber sleeve options as well as traditional steel formats provides printers with the flexibility to stock whichever type of inventory is best for their purposes. We understand the comfort level inherent with steel sleeves and rolls, and we engineer our products to meet our customers' needs.
As an additional safety feature that also aids in changeover efficiency, we use 3-D printing technology to generate color-coded pull rings for each sleeve pattern. This enables your team to quickly see the pattern they need without having to look inside the sleeve or use magnification.
Our wide-ranging manufacturing expertise covers multiple assets for the flexographic printing industry, and even extends to specialty items such as rolls for EV manufacturing. MECA's Wisconsin workforce ensures your carbon fiber sleeve and roll delivery takes place on schedule.
