TAMPA, Fla. - WisconsinEagle -- Gunn Law Group founder Lee Gunn IV recently sat down with PodNumbra for a wide-ranging conversation reflecting on more than four decades of trial work, the people who shaped his career, and the lessons he has picked up along the way. The episode, titled "Top Gunn: Lessons From 40 Years in the Courtroom | Lee Gunn IV," is now available on Apple Podcasts.
The conversation traces Gunn's path from the University of Florida to building Gunn Law Group, earning triple board certification, and spending more than 40 years representing clients during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. It also looks at how the practice of law has changed over that time and what has stayed the same.
Much of the discussion goes well beyond the courtroom. Gunn talks about family and the importance of the people who keep you grounded throughout a long career. He shares stories about mentors, relationships, and the value of preparation and perseverance. He also speaks about reputation, giving back to the community, and why, after all these years, it is still great to be a Florida Gator.

One of the central themes of the episode is the transformation of legal practice through technology. According to Gunn, technology has reshaped nearly every aspect of the work and accelerated the pace of play. Communication is now instantaneous. Information that once took days to gather can arrive in seconds. Along with that speed has come a new expectation, from clients and lawyers alike, that everything should happen faster.
While the tools have changed dramatically, Gunn believes the fundamentals have not. Preparation still matters. Persistence still matters. Relationships still matter. Reputation still matters. And no matter how long someone has been practicing, there is always more to learn.
"Forty years in the courtroom gives you plenty of stories to tell and, hopefully, a few lessons worth sharing," Gunn said. "I appreciate PodNumbra giving me the opportunity to look back on the journey and talk about not only where a career can take you, but the lessons you pick up along the way."
