Fifth short story in "Discovering Kindness" series highlights the effects of just being nice
GREEN BAY, Wis. - WisconsinEagle -- Author Kevin J. Smith's goal in creating his Discovering Kindness series of short stories is to bring attention to the benefits that come through demonstrating and recognizing kindness in the world. Joe, the fifth installment in the series, focuses on a man who is struggling to escape the dark recesses of mental health issues.
Joe is a corporate accountant who goes through life with his head down as he makes every attempt to avoid interpersonal contact. His nights are no escape from the anguish he feels during the day, as a recurring nightmare robs him of peace.
It's not until small acts of kindness from people largely unknown to him that Joe begins to see a light at the end of his tunnel. The story plays out in a way that illustrates how one should never underestimate the positive effect you can have on the world around you.
The entire Discovering Kindness series (M&B Global Solutions Inc.), produced in collaboration with Smith's writing partner, Laura Sherman, will be available in paperback and digital formats later this month.
