Regulatory commission acts after receiving more than 2,500 public comments on issue in brief six-day period, and revokes completeness determination of application for high-voltage lines to serve Port Washington data center.
PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. - WisconsinEagle -- The Responsible Energy Alliance today applauded a decision by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to revoke the completeness determination of American Transmission Company's application to build new 345 kV transmission lines to service the Port Washington hyperscale AI data center.
The PSC acted after receiving more than 2,500 public comments on the issue in a brief six-day window that ended early Wednesday afternoon. Its decision means that ATC would have to refile and restart the entire review process for the proposed lines, which would run through Ozaukee and Washington counties.
The REA, a coalition of residents, landowners, and community members in Ozaukee and Washington counties, issued this statement following the PSC's decision:
"The Responsible Energy Alliance is extremely grateful that the Public Service Commission has revoked the completeness determination for ATC's application.

With approximately 564 additional documents filed after the application was initially deemed complete, the record became extraordinarily difficult for affected property owners and members of the public to follow, understand, and meaningfully evaluate - much less use as the basis for such a consequential decision.
We are thankful that the Commission listened to the concerns raised by residents and stakeholders. This decision reinforces the importance of a complete, transparent, and understandable record when decisions of this magnitude may affect families, farms, businesses, communities, and natural resources for generations.
We sincerely thank everyone who took the time to submit comments, sign petitions, attend meetings, and make their voices heard.
We were heard."
