This annual festival will celebrate LOCAL blueberry farms with fresh picked berries, blueberry-based food, and plants in April.
MOUNT DORA, Fla. - WisconsinEagle -- The eagerly anticipated 10th annual Mount Dora Blueberry Festival is back for another year, promising a weekend filled with family-friendly fun, delicious blueberry-themed treats, and a showcase of local talent and businesses. This year's festival will take place from April 27 & 28, 2024 at Donnelly Park in the heart of Mount Dora, Florida.
Event Coordinator Janet Gamache says, "After years of trial and error with the date, we have found that the last weekend in April is the perfect time to highlight local blueberries. The crops of blueberries are sweet, ripe and perfect to pick."
Lake County, Florida is home to more than a dozen blueberry farms that offer commercial shipping as well as U-Pick blueberries during April-May each year.
The Mount Dora Blueberry Festival is a beloved annual event that celebrates the blueberry harvest season and the rich agricultural heritage of the region. Visitors can expect to indulge in a wide array of blueberry-inspired delicacies, from pies and pastries to jams and beverages, all made with fresh, locally sourced blueberries.

"It's important that we recognize and support our local farms. The blueberries that are packaged and sold at the event all come from farms in our area and other farms from the area will be set up to showcase and sell their own fresh products such as honey, fruits, vegetables and flowers. Blueberry bushes will also be available for people who want to grow their own," says Gamache.
Blueberry pancakes will be served each morning on site and blueberry pies made by the Umatilla High School's culinary class will be available for purchase with all blueberries donated fresh from H & A Farms. Blueberries will also be sold by the pint or by the flat fresh picked directly from Amberbrook and Far Reach Farms.
The Mount Dora Blueberry Festival is not just a celebration of blueberries. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore a diverse selection of vendors offering unique artisanal food products, and one-of-a-kind gifts.
The popular Pie Eating contest will happen again at 2pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Register at the INFO booth before 1pm. There is NO entry fee to participate.
Donnelly Park is located at 530 N. Donnelly St. Mount Dora, FL. Avoid traffic and take the free shuttle at 900 Lincoln Ave. Mount Dora, FL. The event runs 9am to 5pm both days and is FREE to attend. www.MountDoraBlueberryfestival.com
