Donation will help send adopted and foster kids to fun, enriching activities
WAUKESHA, Wis. - WisconsinEagle -- A $5,000 grant from the Catholic Community Foundation will help Chosen Inc. of Wisconsin ("Chosen") provide scholarships to adopted and foster children for therapeutic activities through Chosen's EEE (Equip. Engage. Encourage.) program.
The EEE initiative promotes development and bonding for children in foster and adoptive families. These activities (camps, sports, music/art lessons and sensory experiences) can be expensive, especially when multiple siblings or kids with special needs are participating.
"We are tremendously appreciative of the support that Catholic Community Foundation has provided Chosen," said Karen Schlindwein, Board President for Chosen. "Many families cannot afford to send their children to activities or sensory experiences that might benefit them tremendously. However, with support of generous partners such as Catholic Community Foundation, these kids can partake and enjoy fuller, healthier lives. This grant will have a tangible, positive impact in the foster and adoptive community."

Chosen (https://www.choseninlove.org/) is a non-profit ministry dedicated to supporting, and educating about, foster and adoptive parenting. Its programs, such as EEE, directly benefit foster and adoptive families.
Chosen's flagship Waukesha Family Closet provides free clothing and children's goods to these families, with numbers growing every year. Since opening in 2017, more than 70,000 items have been given to 1,675 children in 700 families. The geographic reach is significant - these foster and adoptive families live in 13 southeastern Wisconsin counties.
A new Mobile Family Closet is scheduled to take to the road in late 2025. The new wheeled dispensary will bring clothing and essential resources directly to underserved communities, and to foster and adoptive families who might face challenges with transportation or child care.
