Hidehiko Matsui and Simon Wilson have been announced as the new Chairman/CEO and COO, following the retirement of former CEO Al Quinn and former Chairman Sonosuke Ishii.
ATLANTA - WisconsinEagle -- Today, Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas announced that beginning April 1, 2025, newly appointed Hidehiko Matsui will be filling the role of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and Simon Wilson will be filling the role of Chief Operations Officer. This change came after former CEO Al Quinn and former Chairman and board member Sonosuke Ishii both announced their upcoming retirement at the end of March 2025.
Hidehiko Matsui, a Hitachi Construction Machinery veteran, brings a wealth of knowledge from the wide range of leadership positions he has held throughout global operations. Throughout his career, he has consistently worked in the sales field. From 2007 to 2012, he was stationed in Europe. From 2018 to 2021, he was the Chairman and Managing Director of Hitachi Construction Machinery Asia and Pacific Pte. Ltd., the regional headquarters for Southeast Asia. From 2022 to March 2025, he was Chief Marketing Officer, President of the Global Marketing Group, and President of the Rental and Used Equipment Business Unit. His extensive experience in the rental and used equipment business will provide leadership in the expansion of the rental business in the North American market.

Simon Wilson, who previously served as Vice President of Construction at Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas, will transition into his new role as COO beginning in April 2025. As COO, Wilson will have full management control of the company, taking on all of Quinn's previous responsibilities. Wilson, who has been in the industry for over 28 years, was hired by Quinn to help with the inception of the company and will bring a progressive leadership style to continue the success of the brand in the region. Before joining the company, he held various roles throughout his career, extending from sales to operations to executive positions.
Officially in its fourth year of operation, Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas has seen great success in the introduction of Hitachi-branded excavators and wheel loaders to North and Latin America. Al Quinn and Sonosuke Ishii were integral in the establishment of the systems, processes, and practices that made it possible. Under their leadership, the network of official Hitachi Construction Machinery dealers has grown to cover most of the United States and Canada. In Latin America, the manufacturer has established official dealers in multiple countries and will continue to support the region's development until the newly announced regional headquarters is operational.
