KOHLER, Wis., Feb. 20, 2024 ~ Kohler, a leading global power partner in the data center industry, has announced its strengthened collaboration with Infrastructure Masons (iMasons) Climate Accord (ICA) and its renewed commitment to creating a more sustainable future for the industry. With over 170 like-minded companies, Kohler will continue to work towards advancing accountability, reporting, and best practices in environmentally focused subjects.
The company's new iMasons Movers designation will allow Kohler to contribute valuable data and insights to the conversation and showcase their initiatives and endeavors. "At Kohler, we understand that meaningful environmental change comes from many companies working together towards a common goal," said Steve Zielke, Sr. Channel Manager - Data Centers.
Kohler's long-term sustainability goals align perfectly with ICA's focus on carbon reduction in digital infrastructure. To further solidify their commitment to iMasons, Kohler has a dedicated team member participating in ICA's Equipment Working Group. This group focuses on decarbonizing data center equipment by promoting transparent communication of embodied carbon and creating market-based incentives for selecting zero-carbon equipment. The committee includes peers from neighboring companies who share the same commitment to sustainable digital infrastructure design, construction, and operation. ICA utilizes this work to influence market-based decisions and drive the industry towards achieving carbon neutrality.

Miranda G. Gardiner, Executive Director of iMasons Climate Accord, expressed her excitement for this continued alliance with Kohler: "Their active and engaged leadership, as well as their endorsement of our collective action, excites me for this continued alliance to drive a greener and more sustainable future together."
Kohler has already made significant strides in improving sustainability within the industry. This includes the introduction of Conscious Care™ maintenance program that reduces fuel consumption, GHG emissions, and maintenance costs; the launch of a hydrogen fuel cell power system with zero emissions during use; investment in engineering and testing of HVO fuels, which can reduce net carbon emissions by up to 90% compared to fossil diesel; and the global integration of DfE (Design for Environment) into New Product Development.
In September, Kohler co-hosted the Power Down: Getting Green Data Center Retreat with Schneider Electric. This event brought together global data center leaders to discuss and find solutions for making the industry more sustainable. As a result, working groups have been formed to create real solutions that will positively impact the environment and the industry.
