~ The City of Madison Streets Division is set to begin its brush collection for 2023 in April. All residents will have five curbside collection opportunities this year. To find out the exact dates when brush should be set out for pickup, residents can visit the Streets Division website and enter their address into the form.
The Streets Division defines brush as woody material that has been trimmed from trees, shrubs, and bushes that is at least 18 inches in length and shorter than 8 feet in length. Brush collection crews will not pick up yard waste piles or brush cut by a contractor. When setting out brush for collection, it should be placed at the street edge or on the terrace with cut ends all facing the same direction and at least four feet away from obstructions like street signs, utility poles, mailboxes, trees, and parked cars.

All set-out dates are on Sundays so that crews can circle through neighborhoods during the work week following the set-out Sunday. This ensures that material will be out on time and will only sit on the terrace for one week at most.
In addition to curbside collection opportunities, drop-off sites are available to accept brush as well. Residents should verify the location and hours of their desired drop-off site before loading their vehicle by visiting www.cityofmadison.com/DropOffSites.
