Outdoor seating at restaurants and taverns is allowed but distancing is required
Public Health Madison & Dane County has released an update to Emergency Order #16, which is scheduled to go into effect on May 5, 2021 at 12:01am.
The following provision for restaurants and taverns was inadvertently not included when Order #16 was originally released on April 29, 2021:
"Outdoor seating is allowed. Space tables, chairs, and stools to ensure at least six (6) feet physical distancing between customers who are not members of the same household or living unit. Customers must be seated at all times when not in transit."

This provision has been added to the Order and is similar to provisions that have been in previous orders. In the sections pertaining to places that serve food or drink, we also included "stools" for clarity wherever chairs were also mentioned. No other changes have been made to the Order.
