~ Madison, WI- The City of Madison has announced that the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Autumn Ridge Path will be rescheduled due to a forecast for December 12, 2024. The event will now take place at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
The Autumn Ridge Path is a multi-use path that will connect Milwaukee St. and Commercial Ave., including a new bridge over Highway 30. This project aims to improve safety and accessibility for non-motorized modes of transportation, providing better connectivity between neighborhoods on either side of the highway.
According to city officials, the Autumn Ridge Path will also expand the existing bike network in the area. It will connect to the existing overpass over Stoughton Rd (Highway 51) at Portland Pkwy., through the Eastmorland neighborhood to the recently constructed Garver Path, and finally to the Capital City Trail and downtown Madison. There are also plans to extend this path network further northeast in the future.

Construction on this project began in June 2024 and has been ongoing since then. The most significant part of this project is the new bridge overpass over Highway 30, which includes three prefabricated trusses over Highway 30 and Commercial Ave., as well as a multi-span loop on the north-side bridge approach.
Funding for this project comes from a substantial federal grant of $2.5 million, covering most of the costs. The remaining costs are being covered by local City funding of $2 million.
The ribbon-cutting event is open to the public and will take place at 4346 Commercial Avenue in Madison's east side. Media personnel planning to attend are requested to RSVP via email to Hannah Mohelnitzky.
The Autumn Ridge Path is expected to greatly benefit residents by providing a safe and convenient mode of transportation between different parts of the city. With its completion, the City of Madison hopes to encourage more people to use non-motorized modes of transportation, promoting a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle. For more information on the Autumn Ridge Path project, visit the project page on the City of Madison's website or attend the Street Meets event dedicated to this project.
