During the panel, attendees had the opportunity to take part in key discussions around policy education in their classrooms. Topics included ways to better vet data for students and how closing the "Perception Gap" (the finding that Americans are more similar across the political spectrum than they typically think) can facilitate better classroom civil discourse.
The panel was hosted as a community event for Civic Learning Week, a digital and in-person initiative of CivXNow that unites students, educators, policymakers, and private sector leaders to energize the movement for civic education across the nation. Policy vs Politics joined the CivXNow Coalition in December 2023 and has been an active member since. The coalition is comprised of over 350 member organizations and groups, and pledges to ensure that every young person acquires the civic knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary for informed, authentic, and engaged civic participation.
