NEW YORK - WisconsinEagle -- San Miguel de Allende has won for the 5th time the highest prize in the Condé Nast Traveler's Reader's Choice Awards; Its appearance in this prestigious list dates to 2013, replicating in the years 2017, 2018, 2020 and in 2021. Over the course of these years, it has been awarded as "Best Small City in the World" and "Best Small City outside the US".
San Miguel de Allende is known as "The Heart of Mexico", not only for its central location but for its vast history and unwavering interest in preserving Mexican culture and traditions. The Mexican independence movement was started in San Miguel de Allende and during the 1960s, it became one of the main colonial destinations in the country, when expats were attracted by its natural lighting, architecture and vegetation.
The best way to visit and get to know San Miguel de Allende is by walking through its streets and being surprised by the cobbled stone and picturesque alleys. Visitors will find a surreal city, with colorful walls, mansions with balconies, doors and restaurants with fabulous terraces that invite you to end the day admiring the sunsets over the city.
