"Joann" finds motivation to push beyond limitations in a stranger's comment
GREEN BAY, Wis. - WisconsinEagle -- Author Kevin J. Smith tackles the struggle for self-acceptance in the second short story of his Discovering Kindness series with Joann (M&B Global Solutions Inc.), available now on Amazon.
Smith and writing partner Laura Sherman delve into the internal struggle that takes place within the conscious and subconscious minds when a lifetime of behavioral patterns build barriers to success. While body image issues affect both sexes, Joann focuses on one woman's journey to self-awareness.
The entire Discovering Kindness series will be available in paperback and digital formats later this year.
Joann story description
It is sadly common for a person's self-esteem to suffer in the clutches of an unhealthy body image. This is particularly true for women who fight an ongoing battle to match up to society's – and their own – unrealistic expectations. Joann is the poster child for this self-imposed emotional hurdle, choosing instead to retreat into a virtual world where she can be "perfect."

Joann has resigned herself to an unfulfilling existence until an unsolicited comment sends a jolt through her system. Could this person's fresh take really generate the motivation Joann needs to change her thinking and move toward a new reality?
Joann is available through October 21, 2020, as a free digital download on Amazon.
