MILWAUKEE, May 20, 2024 ~ Roseland Broadcasting, a low power TV (LPTV) station operator, has recently made changes to its two Wisconsin stations in Milwaukee and near Madison. In preparation for the upcoming November election, the company has changed the call sign and operating channel number of both stations.
Viewers in Milwaukee will now find that station WPVS has been renamed to WWMW and is broadcasting on Channel 16. Similarly, viewers in the Verona area of Madison will now have access to a new station, WMWI, also on channel 16. Roseland Broadcasting plans to eventually move WMWI into Madison later this year.
In addition to these changes, Roseland has announced the launch of a new political channel called PurpleTV on its Milwaukee station in June. According to CEO Matthew Davidge, this decision was made in order for both Wisconsin stations to be broadcasting on the same channel number before the Republican Convention in July. The new client, PurpleTV, will provide informational programming on politics and will be available on both stations.

While Roseland already broadcasts political programming through OANN (One America Network) on its other TV stations in Bismarck ND and Tyler TX, they believe that television remains a valuable complement to online and in-person political activities. Despite the rise of various media consumption channels, over-the-air (OTA) television viewing remains high at around 25% in Wisconsin, particularly among older viewers.
Davidge stated that there are still many viewers who prefer to "lean back and watch" rather than constantly engaging with technology. As for PurpleTV's launch plans, they will be announced separately through their website PurpleTV.com.
With these changes and additions, Roseland Broadcasting aims to reach a wider audience and provide informative political content through their various TV stations.
