TAMPA, Fla. - WisconsinEagle -- Tian Liu, Founder of Tigertail Pictures
https://www.linkedin.com/in/tianliutigertailpictures/
Tigertail Pictures officially opens a new office in Tampa, Florida. Launched in 2019, Tigertail Pictures is a full-service, celebrity advertising agency. Tigertail Pictures has worked with big names such as Gal Gadot, Coldplay, Snoop Dogg, Maye Musk, and Maggie Q, to name a few. Tigertail Pictures is now leading in the way of building successful bridges between America with the rest of the world, especially Africa and Asia. Here we have interviewed founder and CEO, Tian Liu, on her journey.
What made you decide to turn Tigertail Pictures into an advertising agency? What is your mission?
Tian: When I was 20, I went to Kenya as an international volunteer to teach Maths for two months. It turned out to be an amazing experience. The youngest kid I taught was 6 years old and the oldest, 17. I remember they were jumping for joy when I brought them candies. Being someone from the big city of Beijing and now living in the ego-obsessed Los Angeles, seeing the happiness in such simplicity bought tears to my eyes. They have no parents, no shoes, no phones, and ate only potatoes and rice – yet their outlook on life was full of positivity.
Back then, I was a news reporter at China News Agency. I remember taking photos of them and writing an article about the orphans'. The article was titled, "Kids in the Orphanage of Kenya" and it got published in several Chinese new agencies, including China Daily and CCTV.

It was at this moment I realized the power of storytelling. I knew I wanted to use it for something good. So I made up my mind to study Cinematography in the USA. Eventually, I landed a job at the United Nations making the documentary. Then I worked at the biggest advertising agency in New York City. After that, I opened my advertising agency called Tigertail Pictures.
Tigertail Pictures is a Tampa Florida, Los Angeles-based production company providing full-service production needs, from the first step of the creative planning all the way to post-production. Our in-house team and vast network of filmmakers and photographers allow us to carry out every stage of the development process. We have offices in Los Angeles, New York, and Beijing. The diversity of our clients translates to various industries, from fashion to lifestyle, and art to technology.
How many people are behind Tigertail Pictures? Do you have any employees?
Tian: We have 20 people on our team and growing. We are always looking for talented and hardworking people to join our exciting journey. Our team has just welcomed a few VR professionals as we are now heading in that direction.
Tigertail Pictures was founded in 2019. What made you decide to introduce it to the African diaspora?
Tian: Having worked as a cinematographer and traveled around the world, I have been inspired by Africa's rich and colorful culture to the point it is now part of me. Ever since my first visit to Kenya, I have been returning to visit other African countries. I am particularly in love with the culture of Nigeria, Congo, and Uganda. The African diaspora has taught me so much about life and now I want to do something for them.

How has the pandemic affected your business?
Tian: Tigertail Pictures has been positively affected by the pandemic, with all respect. We even developed a new framework on how future advertising could be created.
The way we do advertising is fast and cheaper than a bigger advertising agency. Depending on the client's budget and request, we decide the size of the team we provide, and the way we work is very flexible and fast, we can confidently handle the last-minute project and we have the team in Tampa Florida, Los Angeles, New York, San Francesco, Taxes, etc.
What are your predictions on how advertising and collaborating will change after the pandemic?
Tian: I envision advertising to only increase in the future. Tigertail Pictures is currently building a bridge for Asian and African companies to market in the US, and vice versa. I feel like the world has gotten smaller because of the pandemic, and it is time for us all to come together and share our values and what we can offer.
Finally, what can we expect from Tigertail Pictures and the rest of the year?
Tian: I am currently working on a movie for a digital currency company. It should be released before the end of next year. I can't wait to share it with everyone. For more information, please check out our website TigertailPictures.com.
