Electronics must be delivered to the Streets Division's drop-off sites, or to a reputable private electronics recycler in the area. These steps will protect your data ensure the hazardous materials inside electronics are handled safely.
Many common electronic items, like televisions, computers, and printers, are banned from landfills in Wisconsin. These items should not be placed to the curb or in the collection carts.

Many other items like Christmas tree lights and vacuums can be recycled at the drop-off sites, too. Visit the Street's Division's website for more details.

Televisions, computers, laptops, and monitors all require a recycling fee.
You must wait until you receive the recycling fee sticker before bringing the items to a drop-off site for recycling.
You have the following options to purchase the recycling fee:
Drop-off Sites Information
Residents can bring one load a day of refuse, recycling, large items, or the other items accepted at the drop-off site. The single load cannot be larger than what would fit into a standard pick-up truck bed or small single-axle trailer. Loads larger than those guidelines will be denied access.
Drop-off sites are for City of Madison residents and taxpayers only. Contractors may not use these facilities.
Since the City of Madison is part of the Wisconsin DNR e-Cycle program, businesses may not use the drop-off sites for electronics recycling, either.

In order to use the sites, individuals must provide proof they are a resident of the City of Madison. Many individuals show their driver's license, but other official documents like utility bills or rental agreements can be used.
Check the drop-off site website to be sure you know the location of the sites and their hours before loading your vehicle.

Residents who live east of S. Park Street, and that includes the isthmus, should call 608-246-4532.
Residents west of S. Park Street, and that includes the neighborhoods around Camp Randall, should call 608-266-4681.

- Use the work order system. A sticker will be mailed to the valid City of Madison address entered into the form.
- Call the Streets Division offices to purchase the stickers over the phone. Stickers will be mailed following purchase.
- Buy the stickers in person at the Streets Division offices.
- Stickers cannot be purchased by the staff within the drop-off site area. Stickers are only sold by office staff.
