~ As part of the ongoing John Nolen Drive reconstruction project, the North Shore Drive path will be temporarily closed between Bedford Street and John Nolen Drive. The closure is set to begin at 5:00am on Wednesday, June 3, following the reopening of South Broom Street at 4:00pm on Tuesday, June 2.
According to a previously posted press release from May 28, 2026 at 11:02am, the closure of North Shore Drive is expected to last until mid-July as crews work on reconstructing the intersection. However, it should be noted that both the Capital City Trail and the North Shore Drive shared-use paths will remain open throughout construction. Additionally, there will be an overnight closure of the John Nolen Drive causeway from 11:00pm on Tuesday, June 2 until 5:00am on Wednesday, June 3 for a concrete bridge deck pour. The Capital City Trail along the causeway will still be accessible during this time.
These closures are necessary for the next phase of the reconstruction project and are expected to improve overall safety and accessibility for path users in the area.
