~ Starting Wednesday, September 6, South Broom Street will be fully closed from West Wilson Street to John Nolen Drive for the reconstruction of the railroad crossing related to the Broom/Wilson Street Reconstruction project. This closure will affect both inbound and outbound traffic. Outbound traffic on South Bassett Street will be detoured using West Doty Street to North Bedford Street to North Shore Drive. The closure is expected to end Saturday, September 16.

Once the railroad crossing has been reconstructed, there will be an inbound and outbound lane open on South Broom Street from West Wilson Street to John Nolen Drive. Metro Transit's existing detour will not be changed by this closure. Project plans can be found online at the City of Madison website.

The City of Madison encourages drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time for their commute during this closure.
