~ Madison, WI- The Streets Division has announced expanded summer hours for their drop-off sites, effective Saturday, April 12, 2025. The sites located at 402 South Point Road and 4602 Sycamore Avenue will now be open from Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 2:30pm and on Thursdays until 7:00pm. On Saturdays, the sites will be open from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Additionally, the drop-off site at 121 East Olin Avenue will also open on April 12th with hours of operation from Monday to Thursday, 3:00pm to 7:00pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
These drop-off sites are exclusively for Madison residents and property taxpayers. Proof of residency or taxpayer status must be presented in order to use the sites. Residents are limited to one trip per day and the load must not exceed the capacity of a pickup truck bed or single-axle trailer. More information about drop-off site rules can be found on the Streets Division's website.
For those using the South Point Road and Sycamore Avenue drop-off sites, there may be recycling charges for certain large items and appliances. However, residents who have their recycling collected by the City of Madison do not need to pay any additional fees as they are already covered by the monthly Resource Recovery Special Charge on their Municipal Services bill.

To purchase a recycling fee sticker in advance, residents can visit www.cityofmadison.com/LargeItemWorkOrder or purchase them in person at Streets Division offices located at 1501 W. Badger Rd and 4602 Sycamore Ave. The offices are open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm. Stickers can also be purchased over the phone by calling 608-246-4532 or 608-266-4681 during office hours. Residents can also mail a check to the City of Madison Streets Division with a note explaining the purchase.
It is important to note that drop-off site workers are not able to sell recycling fee stickers, so residents must purchase them in advance if needed.
