The selection of trees includes 33 different species, carefully chosen by trained arborists to ensure a diverse and resilient canopy that can thrive in an urban environment. This variety of trees will not only benefit the city's landscape but also its residents for years to come.

The planting process will take place throughout the city and involves multiple Urban Forestry crews working in an assembly-line method to maximize efficiency. This spring planting is expected to continue until the end of the month.

Once the spring planting season concludes, Urban Forestry crews will shift their focus back to pruning and other tree care operations. However, there will be a second round of planting in the fall.

For those who have received a tree in front of their home as part of this project, Urban Forestry has provided resources on their website to assist with caring for it and addressing any questions or concerns. Additionally, residents can visit the Urban Forestry website to access an inventory that provides information about most of the public trees in Madison. The newly planted tree species will be added to this inventory as soon as possible.

If there are any further inquiries about Urban Forestry's operations, individuals can visit www.cityofmadison.com/Forestry or contact the Urban Forestry office at 608-266-4816.
