For the first time ever, the Madison Fire Department (MFD) hosts a series of virtual recruitment open houses aimed at introducing new audiences to the idea of becoming a career firefighter/EMT.
For years, in-person open houses hosted at local fire stations have been a popular way to engage with active firefighter/EMTs about the job. Now, with the widespread availability of online technology and popular interest in virtual events, the MFD hopes to expand its reach to individuals who want to learn more about the career but cannot easily access the in-person events due to time or location constraints.
These virtual open houses will take place live on Zoom and serve to connect prospective job applicants with MFD recruiters. Attendees will learn about the job duties and responsibilities, take a peek into a day in the life of a Madison firefighter/EMT, and more. Participants are invited to submit questions in advance or ask questions during the live event.

On Tuesday, October 4, at 6:00-8:00 p.m., the MFD hosts a virtual recruitment open house for women. This event is designed to connect women interested fire/EMS with other women currently serving at the MFD, and to share job-related information that is especially relevant to women. Register here to participate.
The MFD is committed to attracting new firefighter/EMTs who demonstrate a deep commitment to community service and public safety. People of all personal and professional backgrounds are encouraged to consider a career with MFD. No previous fire/EMS experience is necessary.
The department anticipates it will begin accepting applications for firefighter/EMT in the coming months. More information about how to apply will be released at a later date.
