~ Madison Parks is offering a variety of free ice skating events this weekend for those looking to enjoy the great outdoors. The city's parks department has organized two exciting events, Groove & Glide and Skate Cinema, and everyone is invited to join in on the fun.
On Friday night, February 7, 2025, Heritage Heights Park will be hosting Groove & Glide from 6-8pm. Skaters of all ages and experience levels are welcome to come and skate under the stars while enjoying lively music and games. The park will also have portable restrooms available for use.
The following day, Saturday, February 8, 2025, Olbrich Park will be hosting Skate Cinema. From 4:00-5:30pm, skaters can enjoy music on the ice before settling down with a lawn chair and blanket to watch the movie Frozen II at 5:30pm. Skating will still be allowed during the movie and there will even be an outdoor firepit for those who need to warm up. Restrooms will be available inside the shelter.

Both events are free to attend and no registration is required. However, there will be a limited number of loaner skates available at both locations for those who do not have their own.
For those in need of skate rentals or concessions, Elver, Tenney, and Vilas parks will have staff available on Thursday and Friday from 4-8pm; Saturday from 12-8pm; and Sunday from 12-6pm. The winter recreation season is coming to an end but ice maintenance will continue through Sunday, February 16 as weather permits.
In case of inclement weather or unsafe ice conditions, Madison Parks will make every effort to reschedule these events. Updates can be found on their website under "Winter Fun in Madison Parks." So come out this weekend and enjoy some free ice skating with friends and family!
