The Madison Arts Commission (MAC) is pleased to announce $450,000 in grant awards to local arts organizations through a special grant program called "Artists at Work." MAC designed this grant opportunity to encourage non-profit organizations to generate, reinstate, and create arts industry jobs.
Anne Katz, the Executive Director of Create Wisconsin (formerly Arts Wisconsin) stated, "When the arts thrive, everybody wins. Creative workers and businesses are vital assets to Madison's economy and workforce. Kudos to the City of Madison for investing in its creative workers and businesses, to help people move forward in the post-pandemic world and add vibrancy and creativity to the community."
Grants of $10,000, $15,000, and $25,000 will be awarded to the following organizations and positions:
Artists at Work subgrants are made possible by an American Rescue Plan grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to help the arts and cultural sector recover from the pandemic.

In addition to the Artists At Work program, the Madison Arts Commission also awarded $97,750 to organizations and individuals for special projects through their annual arts grants program. You can see a full list of recipients here.
The Madison Arts Commission (MAC), an 11-member citizen commission appointed by the Mayor to advise the City about matters of arts and culture. MAC's mission is to foster arts appreciation by initiating partnerships, developing new audiences, and sponsoring diverse artistic activities by emerging and established artists and arts organizations while preserving Madison's rich artistic tradition. To support a full creative life for all, The Madison Arts Commission commits to championing policies and practices of cultural equity that empower a just, inclusive, equitable city.
