Scott Ritsema, partner and trial lawyer at Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys, has been chosen for membership in the National Traumatic Brain Injury Association (NTBIA) for 2026.
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - WisconsinEagle -- This exclusive recognition, part of the specialty associations curated by The National Trial Lawyers, honors attorneys who stand out for their skill, compassion, and proven results in representing people who have suffered traumatic brain injuries. In a personal welcome note sent directly to Ritsema, the association expressed its appreciation: "We are truly privileged to have you as a part of our exclusive organization. You are now included in an elite group of the top attorneys in the country who have been chosen for membership in the specialty associations by the National Trial Lawyers.
Ritsema has spent more than two decades fighting for catastrophically injured clients, with a particular focus on traumatic brain injury cases. After nearly a decade representing large corporations and insurance companies early in his career, he made a deliberate switch in 2001 to the plaintiff side—bringing an insider's understanding of how the other team operates.

That perspective has helped him secure life-changing results, including a $38 million judgment for a 25-year-old client who suffered a catastrophic brain injury in a motorcycle accident. The verdict not only provided financial security but also the resources needed for long-term care and quality of life.
"These are people who, without us and the civil justice system, have no recourse, no remedies," Ritsema has said of his clients. "It's no exaggeration to say they put their lives and financial future in our hands." His background in psychology (UCLA, 1984) and law (UC Davis, Order of the Coif, 1988) gives him a rare ability to connect the medical realities of brain injuries with the legal strategies that deliver justice.
"Scott doesn't just try cases—he truly listens to the people he represents and fights like their lives depend on it, because for many of them, they do," said a colleague at Bisnar Chase. "This membership is a well-deserved acknowledgment of the passion and results he brings to every brain injury case."
