This year, the City of Madison inaugurated a new Poet Laureate - Angela Trudell Vasquez. Angela will be partnering with the Madison Public Library and the Wisconsin Book Festival to celebrate National Poetry Month with a reading by Poets Laureate past and present. This online program will be presented on Saturday, April 4, 2:00-3:30pm, and will be free to attend.
Madison Arts Commission Chairperson Kia Karlen commended the decision to utilize an online livestreaming platform to hold this event. "As we move into April, which is National Poetry Month, I want to thank our Poet Laureate and Madison Public Library for quickly adapting and shifting to digital platforms so that many of our citizens can safely share in the celebration of poetry as a unique art form that invites deep reflection and expression of feelings."
