~ Madison, WI - Get ready to hit the streets and embrace a healthy, active lifestyle at Ride the Drive 2025! This annual community event, organized by the City of Madison Parks Division, will take place on Sunday, August 10 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. The event is free and open to all members of the community.
For one day only, the streets of Madison will be closed off to cars and open for pedestrians, cyclists, skaters, and rollers. The 2+ mile route will feature four activity hubs located in three downtown area parks: Olin Park, Law Park West, Law Park East, and McPike Park. Each hub will be filled with games, giveaways, music, food and more!
Participants can start at any point along the route or visit one of the Madison Parks Info Booths located at each park hub. Here they can pick up an event-day map and RTD Parks Prize Pass. The Prize Pass encourages participants to visit each park hub and collect stamps from vendors for a chance to win prizes from Madison Parks. Completed passes can be dropped off at any Info Booth for a chance to win.
The four park hubs along the route will offer a variety of activities for all ages including bike obstacle courses at Olin and McPike parks, bike on/off bus demonstrations at Law Park West, and even a visit from the WI DNR fishmobile at Law Park East.

New this year is the Pedal Parade! Participants can decorate their bikes or stop by Law Park East to gear up before joining Madison Bikes and Machinery Row Bicycles for a slow-roll lap along the RTD route.
The 2.38-mile route will close John Nolen Drive from Lakeside Street to S. Blair/Williamson streets and Williamson St. from S. Blair to S. Ingersoll. However, access to downtown Madison and the Olin Park boat launch will remain open during the event. Boaters can reach the Olin Park boat launch from E. Olin Avenue through the open service gates at Turville Point Conservation Park.
Main roads, including E. Washington Ave., E. Gorham and Johnson streets, will also remain open and provide alternative routes to reach downtown Madison, the Capitol, and State St. All downtown businesses will operate their regular Sunday hours.
Ride the Drive is made possible thanks to the collaboration of numerous City agencies and local organizations, as well as the generous support of sponsors and partners such as the Madison Parks Foundation.
