Title character shows resolve in seventh installment in "Discovering Kindness" short story series
GREEN BAY, Wis. - WisconsinEagle -- Commission-based careers bring with them their share of stress in addition to the opportunity for significant income. Barry, the title character in Kevin J. Smith's seventh installment of his Discovering Kindness short story series, has the added pressure of a family to support as he pursues his passion over security.
Produced in collaboration with Smith's writing partner, Laura Sherman, Barry is a story that hits close to home for Smith, who is a retired Certified Financial Planner. Smith drew from memories of his own professional journey in creating a character in Barry that reflects his own values.
The entire Discovering Kindness series (M&B Global Solutions Inc.) will be available in paperback and digital formats in time for the holidays.
Barry story description
There is never a good time to face a career reboot and family financial crisis, and middle age with two school-aged children certainly has to rank among the most challenging. The natural reaction for someone in Barry's position would be to simply accept the first job opportunity that comes along and make do. But surrendering to chance isn't in his nature. Barry pushes beyond his comfort zone to pursue a new career fraught with obstacles, discovering in the process that hard work alone does not guarantee success.
