STURGEON BAY, Wis. - WisconsinEagle -- Third Avenue PlayWorks (TAP) is proud to announce its upcoming production of The 39 Steps, adapted by Patrick Barlow, from the movie by Alfred Hitchcock. The third show of the 2025 season at Third Avenue PlayWorks is sponsored by George and Natalie Gorchynsky and Sandy Zingler. This play runs from July 16 to August 10, 2025, featuring performances by Rudy Galvan, Charlotte Foster, Karen Estrada, and Dan Klarer.
The 39 Steps is two hours and fifteen minutes of fast-paced fun and thrilling action and one fifteen-minute intermission with concessions available. In this wonderfully-inventive parody of the 1935 adventure film, the entire plot is reenacted by a cast of only four actors, giving this tale a comic twist. Follow the adventures of our handsome hero, Richard Hannay (complete with stiff upper-lip) as he encounters dastardly murders, double-crossing secret agents, and, of course, devastatingly beautiful women. Thus Alfred Hitchcock's classic thriller is brilliantly and hilariously recreated for the stage!
"The 39 Steps is a high-flying comedic tour-de-force," says Jacob Janssen, Artistic Director. "I'm so excited to have Karen Estrada, Dan Klarer, and Charlotte Foster back on our stage. Audiences may remember them from previous productions such as Boeing, Boeing, The Mystery of Irma Vep, and Jeeves Saves the Day. I'm especially thrilled to introduce Rudy Galvan as Richard Hannay, making his Door County debut."
